The Scania logo is among the most popular and memorable car logos ever created. It depicts the crowned head of the mythical creature Griffin (also known as Gripen) derived from the coat of arms of the southernmost Swedish region of Skåne.
The current version of the Scania logo was created in 1984 by Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd, a noted Swedish painter and sculptor. The Griffin is a symbol of strength, speed, alertness and courage.
