Recently, Chery announced that its upcoming flagship SUV, Tiggo 9, will start pre-sale on April 29. Blind ordering has already been started with a price tag of 160,000 RMB (23,100 USD).
Positioned as a mid-size SUV, Chery Tiggo will provide a 5- and 7-seat layout with dimensions of 4820/1930/1699mm, and a 2820mm wheelbase. In terms of appearance, the body adopts a two-color design, the popular hidden door handles, and a suspended roof design. The car will run on 20-inch wheels.
The front face has a polygonal grille decorated with vertical chrome strips. The Chery logo embedded in the middle can also be lit up. The headlights on both sides are narrow and long.
The rear has through-type taillights, inlaid with Chery’s English logo. Below the taillight is a chrome-plated decorative strip. There is also a chrome-plated exhaust outlet on each side connected by a horizontal blackened strip.
Coming to the interior, on the dashboard is a dual curved screen for a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel and a 12.3-inch central control screen. The air conditioner has three outlets below the central control screen. The center console has a built-in wireless charging pad, a drive selector, and buttons for various functions. The high-end versions will also offer steering wheel heating, a head-up display, a 12 Sony-speaker audio system, and driver fatigue monitoring.
The gear selector is mounted on the steering wheel column. Additionally, the compute platform is supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.
The seats are wrapped in leather. The front seats can be electronically adjusted and support heating/ventilation. Furthermore, the co-pilot seat has a leg rest and supports massage.
Chery Tiggo 9 will be powered by a 2.0TGDI turbocharged engine that outputs 192 kW and 400 Nm, mated to an Aisin 8AT gearbox. The top speed will be 205 km/h with a combined fuel consumption of 7.7L/100km. Hybrid versions will also be available in the future.
