US$80 Million! XCMG Announced Its Second Plant in Mexico

XCMG, a prominent Chinese heavy machinery and construction equipment firm, has revealed plans to invest $80 million in a new facility in Ciénega de Flores, Nuevo León, Mexico, with an estimated creation of around 300 new job opportunities.

XCMG initiated its presence in the state of Nuevo León back in 2021, commencing operations in the city of Escobedo. Subsequently, in 2022, XCMG announced the establishment of its inaugural manufacturing plant in Mexico, located in Monterrey, Nuevo León, primarily focusing on the production of scissor lifts (MEWPs) targeting the North American market.

The forthcoming plant in Ciénega de Flores will mark the company’s second production facility in Mexico.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Ivan Rivas, Minister of Economy of the State of Nuevo Leon, Emmanuel Loo, Undersecretary of Investment of the Ministry of Economy, and Li Qianjin, General Manager of XCMG Fire & Safety Equipment Company, alongside other key executives of the group.

Ivan Rivas Rodríguez remarked, “Expanding operations underscore the unique competitive advantages that Nuevo León offers to investors.”

In recent years, Nuevo León has become a magnet for several Asian firms seeking investment opportunities. Notably, in July last year, motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle manufacturer Spring Dynamics (CFMoto) commenced operations in Apodaca, marking the company’s first plant outside of Asia, with a focus on catering to the Mexican and North American markets.
