SAIC Roewe D7 sedan with up to 1,400 km range arrived at dealers in China, pre-sale starts at 17,800 USD

Recently, Roewe’s upcoming D7 sedan has arrived at dealerships in China, and blind orders are opened for reservation. The official launch date is expected to be November 8, according to the dealer. The plug-in hybrid (DMH – Dual Motor Hybrid) model starts at around 130,000 yuan (17,800 USD) while the 510 km range EV model is priced between 150,000 – 160,000 yuan (20,600 – 21,900 USD), and the 610 km range EV model is priced between 170,000 – 180,000 yuan (23,300 – 25,000 USD).

Roewe is a brand under SAIC. The D7 is the first model under Roewe’s “D” new energy product series as a part of SAIC’s “Three-Year Action Plan for New Energy Vehicle Development” released on April 18.

The Roewe D7 DMH has blackened air vents on both sides of the front lower bumper. The EV models are designed based on SAIC’s Nebula pure electric platform and have a closed grille design with more slender headlights compared to the DMH model.

The rear is decorated with a ducktail spoiler and comes with arc-shaped taillights.

Positioned as a medium-to-large sedan, the Roewe D7 DMH measures 4890/1872/1510mm, with a 2810mm wheelbase, which is 18mm wider than the EV version. From the side, the EV model stands out with its hidden door handles while the DMH model uses conventional door handles. Both models run on five-spoke rims and 17/18-inch wheels. The vehicle’s drag coefficient is 0.23Cd.

The interior adopts a dual-screen layout consisting of a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel and an embedded 12.3-inch central control screen powered by a MediaTek chip. The center console is wrapped in soft materials.

In addition, the Roewe D7 comes with a level 2 advanced driving assistance system.

The seats are zero-gravity covered in suede material and decorated with a quilting design. The front seats are heated, and the driver’s seat supports 10-way electric adjustment and ventilation.

The DMH model is powered by a 1.5L hybrid engine with a maximum power of 80 kW and a thermal efficiency of 43%. The maximum power of the motor is 60 kW. The fuel consumption is 4.3L/100km, the pure electric cruising range is 125 km, and the comprehensive range is as high as 1,400 km.

Furthermore, both EV models are equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is available in low/high power versions with a maximum power of 145 kW/155 kW. The ultra-thin 110mm Rubik’s Cube battery from SAIC provides a CLTC pure electric cruising range of 510 km and 610 km, respectively. The 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time is just 6.3 seconds.
