António Maio continues to put in an excellent performance at the Rallye du Maroc, finishing the fourth stage of the African event with the 14th fastest time in a tough round around Mengoub, which covered 315 timed kilometers. The Franco Sport Yamaha Racing Team rider thus climbs to eighth place among the Rally GP drivers and 15th in the absolute standings.
“Today I lost my GPS at km 140 and had to do the rest of the special without any navigation system. I followed some drivers, but it was very dangerous. I had to slow down a bit, but apart from that I didn’t have any crashes and the bike is impeccable. I’ve finished another stage of the Rallye du Maroc and tomorrow is the final round of this race where I’ll do my best to finish with a good classification,” said the Portuguese Cross-Country Champion on his arrival in Mengoub, where the rally bivouac is located.
Tomorrow sees the fifth and final stage of the 2024 Rallye du Maroc. The special stage will once again take place around Mengoub and will include a 273km timed section. The final stage will be followed by the prize-giving ceremony to crown the winners of this edition of the African competition.
