“Today was very long and tough. Almost 800 kilometres on the bike between special and liaison sections. The course alternated between very fast zones and more technical, rocky ones. Due to the prologue, I started the special a bit further back, but I spent the whole day trying to catch riders and move up. I managed to overtake several, but had to ride in the dust all day. So, it was a very demanding day for me, but I feel I made good progress on the track. I’ll start tomorrow’s stage better positioned to attack the coming days. I felt more comfortable riding the new bike in the desert. There are still a few adjustments to make, but I can see I have a really good machine to attack the next stages. We’re now further south in Morocco, in the Erfoud area. The specials here will be a bit different, but surely very hard and rocky. The next few days will be full of competition,” said the rider from Torres Vedras upon arriving in Erfoud.
Tomorrow, the second stage of the Rallye du Maroc takes place — the first of four loop stages starting and finishing in Erfoud. The day’s route totals 393 km, including 306 km of timed special and 87 km of liaison.
