“The Rallye du Maroc has come to an end. Today’s stage was a bit shorter — we rode through the desert and finished in the dunes of Merzouga. It was a fast special, but also very demanding, especially on the arms.
It was an intense week. I achieved my goal of getting to know this terrain better — the tracks in Morocco — and of improving. I had been here in 2021, but unfortunately had an accident in the first stage and fractured a leg. Ever since, I’ve felt I had unfinished business with this rally, so I took this opportunity to learn, to evolve, and to understand how the bike behaves on desert terrain — which I’ll face again soon at the Dakar Rally,” explained the Portuguese rider.
“It’s been a tough and demanding week, but I’m leaving Morocco feeling more comfortable and confident. It’s not easy to switch from a bike prepared for an event like the last one — the bp Ultimate Rally Raid Portugal, held in late September between Portugal and Spain — straight to Morocco, where the tracks are completely different. The suspension setup needs major adjustments. But I’m very happy to have completed the race without any scares, crashes or injuries, and to be ready for next week’s Baja Portalegre, where I’ll try to achieve my best possible result.”
Bruno Santos began his Rallye du Maroc with a cautious prologue, then climbed positions in the Rally 2 class during the first stage between Fès and Erfoud. The following two stages were heavily affected by dust, which made visibility difficult — yet despite these challenges, Bruno Santos managed to improve his final position in Rally 2.
