Feichi Launches First Hydrogen-Powered Truck in South America
Feichi Technology’s 49-ton hydrogen-powered truck has recently arrived in South America, marking a significant milestone in the company’s global expansion. This launch represents a key step in diversifying the applications of hydrogen fuel cell trucks.
In Chile, Energy Minister Diego Pardow and José Miguel Benavente, Executive Vice President of the Chilean Government’s Production Promotion Agency (CORFO), witnessed the introduction of the country’s first hydrogen fuel cell truck, which will soon enter commercial operation. This initiative is supported by Chile’s Technological Program (PTEC) and represents a major effort by Chile to use clean energy for freight transport.
Energy Minister Diego Pardow said, “The arrival of the first hydrogen-powered truck marks a new milestone for Chile’s logistics and transportation sector. In Chile, innovation around green hydrogen is growing, and this truck from China is a prime example. It will join Chile’s logistics operations and support the 2023 clean energy forklift technology upgrade project, further advancing Chile’s green hydrogen strategy.”
The 49-ton hydrogen-powered truck features a high-performance fuel cell system, offering long range, low hydrogen consumption, low operating costs, safety, and zero emissions. Designed to handle Chile’s mountainous terrain, the truck combines advanced driving technology and robust structural design, including a high-speed four-gear transmission, to tackle steep slopes and provide high-quality green delivery solutions.
In recent years, the government has introduced policies to support the research and commercialization of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, creating a broad market outlook for hydrogen vehicle manufacturers.
