Buick has officially released teaser images of the camouflaged Buick Electra L7 EV, alongside details regarding safety testing conducted at the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) battery laboratory. The upcoming all-electric SUV is set to feature an 800V high-voltage architecture, 6C fast-charging capabilities, and a range exceeding 700km across all trims. The model is scheduled for an official market launch in the third quarter of this year. Furthermore, Buick confirmed that the entire Electra L7 lineup, including the previously launched extended-range (EREV) version, utilizes batteries that fully comply with the latest national safety standards.
The camouflaged prototype retains the design language seen in earlier filing images, featuring Buick’s signature styling. The front fascia is equipped with a LiDAR sensor, suggesting the inclusion of the “Xiaoyao” advanced driver-assistance system, which is powered by the Momenta R6 flywheel large model. This system is expected to offer features such as urban Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) and comprehensive parking assistance. Notably, the prototype features semi-flush door handles, a departure from the fully hidden design found on the EREV variant.

While the interior remains under wraps, it is expected to mirror the design of the EREV version, likely featuring a wrap-around cockpit layout. Anticipated tech includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, and a 50-inch panoramic AR-HUD system.

Although specific battery capacities have not been disclosed, Buick emphasized that the batteries meet the GB 38031-2025 safety requirements. The Electra L7 EV will be powered by a 282kW electric motor and will come standard with CATL batteries. While official pricing has yet to be announced, industry analysts estimate the starting price to be around 200,000 RMB (approximately $27,600 USD), positioning it competitively against other joint-venture offerings in the segment.
