Xiaomi Automobile’s patent for a solid-state battery invention, titled “Solid-State Battery Composite Electrode, Preparation Method, and Solid-State Battery Including the Composite Electrode,” was published on June 13, 2025. The patent application was originally filed on December 12, 2023.

The patent abstract details a solid-state battery composite electrode, its preparation method, and a solid-state battery incorporating this composite electrode. The composite electrode comprises a current collector and an electrode material layer. The electrode material layer is stacked on the current collector along its thickness direction and includes a matrix and a solid-state electrolyte. The solid-state electrolyte penetrates the electrode material layer along the current collector’s thickness direction. The matrix consists of an electrode active material, conductive agent, and binder, while the solid-state electrolyte includes a polymer and metal salt. This innovative composite electrode effectively shortens the transmission path for metal ions within the thick electrode, accelerating their transfer rate between electrodes. Consequently, the solid-state battery composite electrode boasts high electrode capacity and excellent rate performance.
Implications for Xiaomi Automobile’s Range
This patent development aligns with previous statements from Xiaomi Automobile. The company had previously announced that its mature Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery pack system could achieve a CLTC range exceeding 1,000 km, with a platform upper limit of over 1,200 km. Notably, Xiaomi Automobile unveiled its CTB battery pack in late December 2023, shortly after filing this solid-state battery patent application. This suggests that the solid-state battery technology could be key to Xiaomi Automobile realizing its goal of achieving a driving range of over 1,000 km.
