Voyah Chairman Lu Zhao recently revealed on social media that the newly unveiled Voyah Taishan X8 will feature a cutting-edge 896-line dual-optical path image-grade LiDAR system, complemented by three solid-state LiDAR units. The vehicle will also be the first to debut Huawei’s latest generation of smart cockpit technology. Additionally, the Taishan X8 will offer a pure electric variant equipped with a 120kWh battery pack.
The Taishan X8 features a spacious five-seat layout, highlighted by second-row “Zero Gravity” seats. These seats offer a maximum recline angle of 145°, a 200mm longitudinal sliding range, and a 32-point massage system covering everything from the neck to the calves, including a world-first kneading mechanical massage function. The vehicle boasts a total cabin space of 6.1 square meters.
In terms of design, the Taishan X8 maintains the signature aesthetic of the Taishan line. It features a closed front grille accented with vertical waterfall elements, while the headlights, lower grille, and LiDAR sensors are seamlessly integrated into a new black trim panel. The rear continues the design language with a full-width taillight assembly and the Voyah brand logo centered. The vehicle measures 5,200/2,025/1,814mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3,090mm.
Under the hood, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model is powered by a 1.5T engine producing 110kW. It comes in two performance versions: one with front and rear motors delivering 150kW and 215kW respectively, and another with 150kW and 230kW. The vehicle supports an 800V high-voltage platform with 5C ultra-fast charging. The PHEV version offers pure electric ranges of 190km, 300km, and 310km, with fuel consumption in charge-sustaining mode rated at 6.8L/100km and 6.5L/100km. Details regarding the pure electric model’s performance specs are yet to be released.
