At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, the BYD Sealion 08 officially made its world debut. As the new flagship SUV of BYD’s Ocean series, the vehicle is packed with the brand’s latest innovations, including the second-generation Blade Battery, ultra-fast charging technology, and the “God’s Eye” 5.0 advanced intelligent driving system. The Sealion 08 will be available in both all-electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, with the pure electric model boasting an impressive range of up to 900 km.
In terms of exterior design, the new vehicle continues the styling cues of the Ocean S concept car. The front fascia features a full-width silver trim strip complemented by split-type headlights. The wave-shaped daytime running lights and deep, dynamic headlamp clusters showcase BYD’s latest “Ocean Aesthetics” design language.

The Sealion 08 measures 5,115 mm in length with a generous wheelbase of 3,030 mm. It will be offered in both 5-seater and 6-seater configurations. The side profile is defined by elegant, flowing waistlines and features modern hidden door handles. At the rear, the vehicle is equipped with through-type taillights that mirror the design of the front end. Notably, the Sealion 08 features a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor to support its high-level autonomous driving capabilities.

Under the hood, the Sealion 08 utilizes BYD’s most advanced hardware, including the second-generation Blade Battery, fifth-generation DM (Dual Mode) hybrid technology, and Cell-to-Body (CTB) integration. To enhance driving dynamics, it comes equipped with rear-wheel steering, the DiSus-A (Yunnian-A) intelligent air suspension system, and dual-chamber air springs with road-preview functionality.

The all-electric version achieves a CLTC range of 900 km, while the plug-in hybrid version offers a substantial 400 km of pure electric range under CLTC standards.
