At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Hongqi officially debuted its first-ever global SUV model, appropriately named the “Global SUV.” This new vehicle is highly anticipated as the first fruit of the strategic partnership between Hongqi and Leapmotor. According to previous agreements, Leapmotor provides its full-stack self-developed electrification and smart cockpit technologies, while FAW (Hongqi’s parent company) contributes its traditional powertrain expertise and robust supply chain resources.

The design of the Global SUV stays true to Hongqi’s modern aesthetic. The front fascia adopts a sleek, closed-off design typical of electric vehicles, accented by a lower intake grille. The sharp headlight units on either side feature an intricate “diamond galaxy” lighting effect. Judging by its proportions, the vehicle is expected to compete in the compact SUV segment.

Moving to the side profile, the vehicle is equipped with semi-hidden door handles and stylish five-spoke petal-shaped wheels. The rear design draws inspiration from the Hongqi HS5, featuring a clean and sporty silhouette complemented by a newly designed through-type taillight bar. To enhance its modern appeal, various exterior details have been given a “blacked-out” treatment.
Hongqi also promoted the vehicle on its international social media channels, noting that the Global SUV is “crafted for a global lifestyle,” specifically targeting users who value daily comfort and a sophisticated driving experience. We will continue to provide updates as more technical specifications are released.
