1044 kilometers! NIO 150kWh battery test mileage announced

On December 17, 2023, NIO CEO Li Bin personally drove the NIO ET7 to test the mileage of the 150kWh ultra-long-range battery pack. The test started from Shanghai and finally stopped at the Longju East service area in Xiamen after driving for over 14 hours. A total of 1044 kilometers were traveled, with 3% of battery power remaining.

According to the published live broadcast pictures, when the mileage reached 1000 kilometers, the battery power remained at 7%. At the end of the test, when the mileage reached 1044 kilometers, the battery power remained at 3%, and the CLTC remaining mileage was 36 kilometers. The comprehensive energy consumption of the entire test was 13.2kWh/100km, the average speed was 83.9km/h, the test environment temperature was -2 to 12 degrees Celsius, and the average interior temperature was 20 degrees Celsius.

Li Bin said that the NIO 150kWh battery pack is the most technologically advanced mass-produced battery pack in the world, and is also the largest mass-produced battery capacity for passenger cars in China. NIO has completed the vehicle announcement and testing, and will be delivered to users in the near future. All NIO models on sale are compatible with the 150kWh battery.

The NIO 150kWh battery pack was released at the NIO Day in 2021. It uses a solid-liquid hybrid electrolyte, which is a semi-solid battery. The energy density is 360Wh/kg, which exceeds the 255Wh/kg of the Qilin battery from CATL. Although the battery pack capacity is larger, it is the same size as the NIO 100kWh and 75kWh battery packs, and can still support battery swapping.

However, NIO President Qin Lihong once revealed that the cost of the NIO 150kWh battery pack is very high, and the cost is equivalent to ET5 (ET5 75kWh price 298,000 yuan). NIO users who do not want to bear the high battery cost can choose the battery rental service when purchasing the car, and only need to pay the monthly battery rental service fee, and do not need to buy the power battery pack at once when purchasing the car.

Key takeaways:

  • NIO CEO Li Bin conducted a test of the 150kWh ultra-long-range battery pack on a NIO ET7.
  • The test covered 1044 kilometers, with 3% of battery power remaining.
  • The comprehensive energy consumption of the test was 13.2kWh/100km.
  • The test was conducted in cold weather, with temperatures ranging from -2 to 12 degrees Celsius.
  • NIO has completed the vehicle announcement and testing for the 150kWh battery pack, and it will be delivered to users in the near future.
  • The cost of the NIO 150kWh battery pack is very high, and it is equivalent to the cost of a car ET5. NIO users can choose the battery rental service to avoid the high cost.
