All-New Roewe i6 Launched with Aggressive Pricing and Tech Upgrades

The all-new Roewe i6 has officially opened for pre-sale, featuring three distinct trims: Changjiu, Haojiu, and Zhenjiu. With a limited-time pre-order price ranging from ¥65,900 to ¥75,900 (approximately $9,100 to $10,500 USD), and a pre-sale price between ¥74,900 and ¥84,900 (approximately $10,400 to $11,800 USD), this compact sedan aims to make a strong impact in its segment. The new generation boasts a fresh design language and is powered by a 1.5L engine.

In terms of exterior design, the Roewe i6 adopts the “Radiant Pearl” aesthetic. It features a large, waterfall-style front grille complemented by a “star ring” bar-type light cluster. The ROEWE lettering on the hood adds to its commanding presence.

The side profile showcases a flowing character line that extends from the front to the rear. Coupled with multi-spoke wheels and a steeply raked fastback roofline, it achieves a balance of sportiness and aerodynamic efficiency. The bar-type taillights at the rear echo the design of the front lights, while a subtle ducktail spoiler enhances the vehicle’s overall refinement and sporty appeal. The car measures 4767mm in length, 1828mm in width, and 1498mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2755mm, providing a solid foundation for interior space.

The interior adopts a minimalist design, highlighted by a 15.6-inch 2.5K floating central control screen. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, the infotainment system supports voice control, OTA online upgrades, and essential smart functions like navigation and multimedia playback. It also includes basic driver aids such as a rearview camera and parking sensors for everyday convenience. A wireless charging panel for smartphones is located below the center console, and the vehicle features a column-mounted shifter. The rear seating area offers ample and comfortable space. Furthermore, the interior utilizes a significant amount of soft-touch materials, covering 75.49% of the surfaces.

Under the hood, the all-new Roewe i6 is equipped with SAIC’s self-developed 1.5L all-aluminum engine featuring direct injection technology. It produces a maximum power of 95kW and a peak torque of 158N·m, paired with an 8-speed CVT transmission. The combined fuel consumption is rated at 5.96L/100km.

**Competitive Analysis:**

Key competitors in this segment include the Geely Emgrand, Volkswagen Lavida XR, and Nissan Sylphy (entry-level).

* **Geely Emgrand:** Offers a richer set of features and higher brand activity.
* **Volkswagen Lavida XR:** Leverages the reputation and resale value of a joint-venture brand.
* **Nissan Sylphy (entry-level):** Competes on comfort and brand recognition.

To stand out in this fiercely competitive market, the Roewe i6 needs to capitalize on its spaciousness and powertrain advantages, combined with a competitive pricing strategy.

**Overall Summary:**

The Roewe i6 is a well-positioned compact fuel-efficient family sedan. Its core strengths lie in its dimensions, powertrain specifications, and select feature highlights. The pricing strategy aligns with the budget of mainstream family car buyers. Backed by SAIC Group’s technical expertise, it offers competitive performance in terms of powertrain smoothness and fuel economy.
