According to the Weibo by the blogger “Xiao Di Express” on 25th Jan. 2024, Uzbekistan President Mirziyoyev visited the BYD headquarters in Shenzhen and held a video conference with BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu to launch the production of the BYD Uzbekistan factory.
The first car produced by BYD at its Uzbekistan factory is the BYD Song PLUS DM-i. At the same time, Wang Chuanfu also delivered the 10,000th new energy vehicle from BYD in the Uzbekistan market to Mirziyoyev, a Yangwang U8.
According to a previous report, BYD launched three pure electric models in Indonesia in the middle of this month. At the press conference, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto also announced that BYD will invest US$1.3 billion to build a car factory in Indonesia, with a planned production capacity of 150,000 vehicles.
The Financial Times in the United Kingdom also reported in the middle of this month that BYD is building its first electric vehicle factory outside of Asia in Brazil. BYD’s South American country chairman, Alexandre Baldy, said that discussions have been held with Sigma Lithium, a Brazilian lithium producer valued at $2.9 billion, on supply agreements, joint ventures, or acquisitions. Baldy said that BYD is looking for lithium assets in Brazil, with the goal of building an integrated supply chain, and is in “active” talks with Sigma.
BYD also plans to build an electric vehicle factory in Hungary and is continuing to negotiate to establish a factory in Mexico.
