Hyundai has officially unveiled the latest addition to its all-electric lineup in Europe: the IONIQ 3. Positioned as a compact electric hatchback, the new model is built on the E-GMP dedicated EV platform and centers its design around the “Aero Hatch” concept. Designed by Hyundai’s European team and manufactured at its Turkish plant, the IONIQ 3 targets young families and urban commuters, serving as a new entry point for the IONIQ brand in the mass market.
The exterior of the IONIQ 3 showcases Hyundai’s latest design language, featuring clean, sharp lines and a high-tension surface. The signature pixel-style lighting and four-dot LED light signatures at the front and rear provide instant brand recognition. The “Aero Hatch” fastback silhouette is not just for looks; it optimizes aerodynamics to achieve a drag coefficient of just 0.263, balancing efficiency with aesthetics. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures approximately 163.6 to 164.2 inches (4,155–4,170 mm) in length, 70.9 inches (1,800 mm) in width, and 59.3 inches (1,505 mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 105.5 inches (2,680 mm).
Inside, the cabin follows the “Furnished Space” philosophy, offering a clean layout and a cozy atmosphere. The standard five-seat configuration benefits from a completely flat floor, providing a trunk capacity of 15.6 cubic feet (441 liters). Practicality is further enhanced by clever storage solutions, including a tiered center console and stackable cup holders. As the first Hyundai model in Europe to feature the Pleos Connect infotainment system, the IONIQ 3 runs on Android Automotive OS and offers a choice of 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch touchscreens.
Safety and convenience are top priorities, with the Hyundai SmartSense suite providing features like autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Additional highlights include Digital Key 2.0, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability up to 3.6kW, and a premium BOSE sound system.
Powering the IONIQ 3 is a single-motor powertrain delivering 147 horsepower and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque. Two battery options are available: a standard range 42.2 kWh battery offering approximately 214 miles (344 km) of WLTP range, and a long-range 61 kWh battery providing up to 308 miles (496 km) on the WLTP cycle.
