SAIC Volkswagen has officially announced that the new Passat ePro and Tiguan L ePro plug-in hybrids will hit the market in late May. Both models feature a sophisticated plug-in hybrid system consisting of an EA211 1.5T engine paired with a single electric motor, a TQ251 transmission, and a 22kWh battery pack.

The Passat ePro adopts a completely refreshed design language. The front fascia is highlighted by high-tech LED headlights, a full-width light bar, and an illuminated Volkswagen logo. In terms of dimensions, the sedan measures 5017mm in length, 1850mm in width, and 1489mm in height, with a generous wheelbase of 2871mm.

The Tiguan L ePro carries over the rugged yet refined styling of the Tiguan L Pro while integrating several new energy-specific design elements. This includes a signature LED lighting setup with a light bar and a glowing brand logo. The SUV’s dimensions are 4744/1842/1684mm with a 2791mm wheelbase, offering a spacious five-seat interior.

The rear of the Passat ePro is equipped with wing-style full-width LED taillights and a red illuminated logo, providing a distinct and modern visual signature.

Inside, both models boast a high-tech cockpit featuring a 12.9-inch central touchscreen, a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a dedicated entertainment screen for the front passenger. A newly designed steering wheel comes standard. Notably, the Tiguan L ePro will offer a “Queen’s co-pilot” seat, designed for maximum passenger comfort.


Under the hood, the 1.5T engine delivers a maximum power of 95 kW, while the electric motor contributes 145 kW. Efficiency is a major selling point for these new models: the Passat ePro achieves a comprehensive range of up to 1,468 km (approx. 912 miles), while the Tiguan L ePro offers a total range of 1,423 km (approx. 884 miles).
