The first Dongfeng-Nissan Venucia electric compact SUV debut on October 23

The first model built on Dongfeng-Nissan Venucia‘s dedicated electric vehicle platform, a compact SUV Venucia VX6, will debut on October 23. The price should be 100,000-200,000 yuan (13,700-27,500 USD).

Last week, the VX6 rolled off the production line in Guangzhou. The Chinese-made SUV is based on a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) chassis named V-π, first used in the Ve concept vehicle presented last year at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

V-π was first presented in May. It includes a cell-to-chassis (CTC), an X-in-1 integrated electric drive, a coupled thermal management system, a front double-wishbone, and a rear five-link suspension. It also supports 800V-charging.

VX6 sits on a 4658/1890/1656 mm chassis. The wheelbase is 2850 mm long. The powertrain comprises a 160 kW motor and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co.’s (CATL) lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery. The top speed is 165 km/h.

Venucia is a car marque of Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (Dongfeng Nissan), a Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd subsidiary. The marque was launched in September 2010 by Dongfeng Nissan. From February 2017 until the end of 2020, Venucia was spun off from Dongfeng Nissan as a Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. subsidiary named Dongfeng Venucia Motor Company. In December 2020, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. announced it would merge Venucia into Dongfeng-Nissan.

In June, Dongfeng-Nissan revealed its plans for the future during the launch of its first PHEV. The JV plans to focus on new energy vehicles as the second line of growth, and Venucia is seen as a cornerstone of the strategy. Dongfeng-Nissan plans to reach 300,000 annual sales and launch two Venucia models yearly.

In August, the brand’s NEV segment saw the company’s first PHEV, V Online, sell 2,121 units. Since it went on sale in July, the SUV sold 3,524 units. In the past two months, it outsold the brand’s electric bestseller, Venucia D60 EV. The EV sold 2,583 units since July. In August, the brand’sbrand’s total sales were 6,238, 13.4% down compared to August last year.
