Volvo EX90 to Debut April 15 with 800V Architecture and Dual Nvidia Orin Chips

The updated Volvo EX90 is scheduled to make its official debut on April 15. This latest iteration brings significant upgrades to its electrical architecture and intelligent driving capabilities, most notably the transition to an 800V platform and the integration of dual Nvidia Orin chips. While official pricing has not yet been released, an announcement is expected in the coming weeks.

In terms of exterior design, the new Volvo EX90 maintains the sleek aesthetic of the current model. The front fascia continues to feature the iconic “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlights paired with an active shutter grille for optimized aerodynamics.

The side profile draws inspiration from luxury yacht design, characterized by clean lines and semi-recessed door handles that reduce drag.

At the rear, the vehicle retains its distinctive wrap-around LED taillight clusters, complemented by additional LED light strips flanking the rear window—a signature Volvo design element.

While interior photos of the updated model have not been fully disclosed, it is expected to carry forward Volvo’s signature Scandinavian minimalist philosophy. The cabin will likely center around a 14.5-inch vertical floating touchscreen powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 cockpit platform.

The most substantial improvements occur within the vehicle’s “brain.” The upgrade to dual Nvidia Orin chips significantly boosts the SUV’s computing power. This enhancement will refine the Pilot Assist functions, particularly in complex scenarios such as automated parking and navigating challenging conditions like nighttime driving or slippery, wet roads. Additionally, the new model will offer an electrochromic panoramic sunroof, allowing passengers to adjust the glass transparency at the touch of a button.

The transition to an 800V high-voltage architecture is the technical highlight of this update. This shift will drastically shorten charging times while simultaneously improving motor efficiency and overall driving range. Specific performance figures and range estimates are expected to be revealed during the official premiere.
