On April 15, XPeng Motors officially unveiled its all-new flagship large SUV, the XPeng GX, and kicked off pre-sales. The model is launched with two configurations, both carrying a pre-sale price of 399,800 RMB (approximately $55,145 USD). Notably, the GX will be available in both Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) versions to meet diverse consumer needs.

In terms of exterior design, the XPeng GX adopts a fresh design language. The front fascia features a closed grille paired with “Star Ring” integrated LED light strips, giving it high visual recognition. Thanks to its substantial dimensions, the front of the vehicle appears imposing and robust. The BEV version also includes a front trunk (frunk), further enhancing storage capacity. The vehicle measures 5,265mm in length, 1,999mm in width, and 1,800mm in height, with a generous wheelbase of 3,115mm.

From the side, the XPeng GX utilizes a continuous waistline that stretches from the headlights to the taillights. Combined with multi-spoke wheels, hidden door handles, and a floating roof design, the SUV exudes an elegant yet sophisticated aura. The relatively flat roofline ensures ample headroom for passengers in all rows. At the rear, the continuous taillight design echoes the front styling. The vehicle will be offered in five different exterior colors.

Inside, the GX features a wrap-around cockpit design with chrome accents throughout to enhance the premium feel. It is equipped with a dual-spoke multi-function steer-by-wire steering wheel (featuring 135mm electric retraction and intelligent welcome entry for both the wheel and seat). The centerpiece is a 17.3-inch 3K floating central control screen, complemented by “Star Ribbon” ambient lighting. Additionally, the car features a “Pilot Floating Island” center console with an intelligent lifting charging pad and hidden cup holders. The audio system consists of 33 AI-powered speakers, delivering a 7.1.6.8 immersive panoramic sound experience, including eight speakers integrated into the headrests.

For rear passengers, the XPeng GX offers a flip-down entertainment screen, a small table on the left side, and a magnetic expansion dock on the right, significantly enhancing the passenger experience. The seating configuration is top-tier: the front seats offer 16-point massage, 16-way power adjustment, and 3-level ventilation/heating. The “Queen’s Co-pilot” seat features Nappa leather and a one-button zero-gravity reclining mode. The second row is equally luxurious, featuring a zero-gravity seat on the right and an aviation-style comfort seat on the left, both with power armrests, 16-point massage, and full climate controls.

Regarding performance, the EREV version is powered by a 1.5T range-extender system. The engine produces a maximum power of 110 kW, while the front and rear dual motors deliver 160 kW and 210 kW, respectively. It reaches a top speed of 200 km/h and offers a pure electric range of 320 km. The BEV version also features a dual-motor setup with 160 kW front and 270 kW rear motors, achieving a top speed of 200 km/h. Depending on the battery configuration, the BEV range options include 635 km, 665 km, 720 km, and 750 km.

The XPeng GX enters the market with a clear target: the $55,000 to $70,000 flagship SUV segment. By positioning itself as a large SUV, it directly competes with models like the AITO M8 and NIO ES8. However, its competitive pricing may also attract buyers considering mid-to-large SUVs like the Li Auto L8 or AITO M7.
The arrival of the GX fills a critical gap in XPeng’s lineup for a full-size six-seat flagship SUV. By offering dual-power options to eliminate range anxiety, steer-by-wire technology for better handling, and a comprehensive AI-driven driving system, XPeng has created a “well-rounded warrior” for the premium family market.
