At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, the BYD Sealion 08 officially made its global debut. As the new flagship SUV for BYD’s Ocean series, this model is packed with the brand’s latest innovations, including the second-generation Blade Battery, ultra-fast flash charging technology, and the DiPilot 5.0 advanced intelligent driving system. The Sealion 08 will be offered in both all-electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains, with the BEV version delivering an impressive CLTC range of 900 km (approx. 559 miles).
The exterior design evolves from the Ocean S concept car. The front fascia is characterized by a full-width silver trim piece and split-style LED headlights. The wave-inspired daytime running lights paired with deep, dynamic main beam units represent a fresh iteration of BYD’s “Ocean Aesthetics” design language.
Measuring 5,115 mm in length with a generous 3,030 mm wheelbase, the Sealion 08 provides ample space for both 5-seat and 6-seat layouts. The side profile is defined by fluid, elegant lines and integrated hidden door handles for improved aerodynamics. At the rear, the continuous taillight design echoes the front’s aesthetic. Notably, the vehicle features a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, powering the DiPilot 5.0 high-level intelligent driving assistance suite.
Under the skin, the Sealion 08 utilizes BYD’s most advanced hardware, including the 5th-generation DM (Dual Mode) technology for hybrids and CTB (Cell-to-Body) battery integration. To ensure a premium driving experience, it comes equipped with rear-wheel steering, the DiSus-A intelligent body control system, and a dual-chamber air suspension system with road-preview capabilities. The BEV variant achieves a 900 km (approx. 559 miles) CLTC range, while the PHEV version offers a class-leading 400 km (approx. 248 miles) of pure electric range.
