2026 GAC Honda Breeze Debuts with Huawei-Powered AI Cockpit and Aggressive Pricing

The 2026 GAC Honda Breeze has officially launched in China, bringing significant upgrades to the compact SUV lineup. The updated model is available in both gasoline and e:HEV hybrid versions, with gasoline models priced from 137,900 to 165,900 RMB (approximately $19,050 to $22,920 USD) and hybrid models ranging from 149,900 to 179,900 RMB (approximately $20,710 to $24,850 USD).

The core highlight of this refresh is the introduction of a new intelligent cloud-based infotainment system, developed in collaboration with Huawei Cloud. By leveraging cloud computing, minute-level seamless OTA updates, and integration with AI large language models like DeepSeek, the system offers enhanced processing power and a more responsive, intuitive user experience.

In terms of safety, the new Breeze features a comprehensive active and passive safety system. Passive safety is bolstered by 10 airbags and the Honda ACE high-strength body structure, while active safety is managed by the Honda SENSING suite, providing a robust layer of protection for occupants.

Under the hood, the gasoline version is powered by a 1.5T turbocharged engine, delivering 193 horsepower and 243 Nm of torque. The e:HEV hybrid variant utilizes a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine paired with an electric motor. The engine produces 150 horsepower and 183 Nm of torque, while the electric motor contributes 184 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque.

**Editor’s Note:** The fact that a Honda Breeze can now be purchased for 130,000 RMB is something that would have been unimaginable just a few years ago. It shows that even established joint-venture brands like Honda have had to lower their expectations. The context behind this move is Honda China’s nearly 50% year-on-year sales decline in April. According to data released by Honda China, terminal sales in the Chinese market for April 2026 were only 22,595 units, a 48.3% drop—a record low for recent years. The implication is clear: if they don’t lower prices, they won’t sell cars. In the Chinese automotive market, competition is intensifying, and manufacturers are now forced to not only cut prices but also pack in more features to remain relevant.
