Spy shots of the interior of the all-new BYD Yuan Plus have recently surfaced, revealing significant updates to the popular electric SUV. While the new model maintains the core design language of its predecessor, several key refinements have been introduced to enhance the user experience.
The exterior of the new Yuan Plus has undergone a noticeable transformation. It features a sleek silver grille panel flanked by narrow, aggressive headlights with black housings. The front bumper incorporates vertical air intakes and a trapezoidal lower cooling vent, giving it a more commanding presence similar to the larger BYD Tang.
From the side, the vehicle showcases a more elongated profile, supported by 18-inch or 19-inch wheels. It also adopts semi-concealed door handles, and the D-pillar trim can be customized with different colors.
The rear design includes a dual-segment high-mounted brake light and a rear wiper. The full-width taillights feature a streamlined internal light signature, providing high visibility at night. The recessed license plate area adds a sense of depth to the overall rear aesthetic.
Moving to the interior, the all-new Yuan Plus is equipped with a large digital instrument cluster and a floating central touchscreen, creating a high-tech atmosphere. A major highlight is the new multi-function steering wheel, which adopts a more minimalist and modern look compared to the current version.
The center console retains the signature air vent design of the Yuan family, along with a wireless charging pad and a row of physical buttons. Notably, a new rotary control knob has been added behind the cup holders. Given that the new model utilizes a column-mounted shifter, this knob is expected to serve as a dedicated controller for the infotainment system and multimedia functions.
Due to the increased dimensions, rear-seat passengers will benefit from significantly improved legroom. The rear cabin also features independent air vents and optimized seatback angles for a more relaxed riding experience.
The all-new Yuan Plus measures 4,665mm in length, 1,895mm in width, and 1,675mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770mm—making it substantially larger than the current model. It is built on a new rear-wheel-drive electric platform and will be powered by BYD’s second-generation Blade battery. Performance-wise, it will offer two rear-motor options with outputs of 200 kW and 240 kW.
The vehicle is expected to make its official debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 23, with pre-sales slated to begin in the middle of the year.
