On April 18, the Haval Menglong PLUS (known as the Haval V7 in international markets like the Middle East) officially launched its pre-sale. The new model is available in three configurations, with pre-sale prices ranging from 189,800 to 215,800 RMB ($26,180 – $29,765 USD). The vehicle features Great Wall Motor’s (GWM) Hi4 intelligent electric four-wheel-drive technology, boasting 28 technical upgrades across four major categories. It offers a CLTC pure electric range of up to 255 km, a combined WLTC range exceeding 1,000 km, and a maximum wading depth of 580 mm.
In terms of exterior design, the new vehicle continues the classic “boxy” aesthetic, utilizing 37 rounded-corner designs to further reduce the drag coefficient. The front end introduces a new grille style while maintaining the signature square headlights. Notably, a compact LiDAR unit is mounted on the roof, signaling high-level advanced driver assistance capabilities. The vehicle’s dimensions are 4,912 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,905 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. It boasts a minimum unladen ground clearance of 221 mm and will be available in both 5-seater and 7-seater versions.
The side profile features traditional pull-out door handles and a thickened C-pillar adorned with a mountain-range pattern print. Roof rails are included to enhance utility for outdoor scenarios. The rear design is clean and upright, featuring an external spare tire and the “GWM” branding. The vertical “double-box” taillights and a black-and-silver rear bumper add a sense of visual depth.
Inside, the Menglong PLUS evolves the design language of the standard Menglong. It features a new three-spoke steering wheel with expanded button functionality. The cockpit is equipped with a full LCD instrument cluster, a head-up display (HUD), and a floating central touchscreen with a more modern UI. Physical buttons are retained below the screen for ease of use, and the center console maintains its functional layout with a column-mounted gear shifter.
A large panoramic sunroof ensures the cabin remains bright and comfortable for rear passengers. The second-row seats feature a 4/6 split-folding design. The tailgate uses a side-opening mechanism (hinged on the left) and includes integrated storage compartments on the inner door panel.
Under the hood, the Menglong PLUS is powered by GWM’s Hi4 intelligent 4WD hybrid system. It combines a 1.5T hybrid-specific engine with dual motors on the front and rear axles, delivering a total system output of 330 kW and a peak torque of 660 N·m. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 5.8 seconds. The vehicle’s power consumption is rated at 21.4 kWh/100km. For off-road enthusiasts, it comes equipped with an electronically controlled mechanical rear differential lock and supports both crawl mode and turn assist.
