The 2026 Beijing International Auto Show officially kicked off on April 24, with Toyota and Lexus presenting a lineup of high-profile new models. The highlights of the event included the domestic debut of the Lexus LFA all-electric concept car and the official launch of the all-new Lexus ES.
### Lexus LFA EV Concept: The Future of the Supercar
The all-new LFA concept is a pure electric sports car that serves as a technical blueprint for the brand’s next generation of high-performance vehicles. Built on a dedicated electric architecture with a lightweight chassis, the concept focuses on a low center of gravity and high-rigidity construction. Its design captures the essence of the classic LFA while pushing aerodynamic boundaries for the electric era.
The vehicle measures 4,690 mm in length, 2,040 mm in width, and 1,195 mm in height, with a 2,725 mm wheelbase. The overall dimensions have grown significantly, featuring a dramatic “boot” silhouette and aggressive air ducts at the rear, complemented by a full-width light bar.
Inside, the LFA concept offers a wrap-around cockpit designed to mimic a fighter jet, ensuring the driver remains fully focused. The steering wheel and instrument cluster are optimized for high-speed maneuvers, allowing for intuitive control without shifting hand positions.
Moving away from the legendary V10 of its predecessor, the new LFA Concept is fully electric. It targets a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of approximately 2 seconds and a range of roughly 700 km (435 miles). Its lightweight aluminum chassis is a shared technology platform also used for the Toyota GR GT production model and GT3 race cars.
### All-New Lexus ES: Luxury Redefined
The next generation of the Lexus ES, a staple in the mid-to-large luxury sedan segment, has officially launched at the Beijing Auto Show. The new model is priced at 299,900 RMB (approx. $41,365 USD).
The new ES adopts the “Clean Tech x Elegance” design language. The traditional spindle grille has evolved into a more integrated, closed-off design with a trapezoidal lower intake. The hybrid variant features an additional slim air intake for optimized cooling. The side profile uses a two-tone design on the fenders and skirts to create a sleek, aerodynamic look, while the rear features a continuous light strip with an illuminated Lexus logo.
The vehicle’s dimensions are 5,140 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,555 mm high (for the hybrid), with a 2,950 mm wheelbase. Depending on the powertrain, it comes equipped with either 18-inch or 21-inch wheels.
The interior blends modern technology with traditional “Oriental Luxury,” featuring bamboo-patterned translucent trim. A 14-inch central touchscreen is standard, with an optional 14-inch screen for the front passenger. High-end features include driver seat memory, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated power steering wheel, HUD, Mark Levinson audio, and L2-level driver assistance. The pure electric version also includes a variable-color panoramic sunroof.
The all-new ES is available in both hybrid and pure electric versions. The hybrid model features a 2.0L engine paired with a high-output electric motor, delivering a combined system output of 145 kW through an E-CVT gearbox.
