Leapmotor announced today that its brand-new compact electric sedan, the Leapmotor B01, has officially opened for presale. A total of five models are available, with presale prices ranging from RMB105,800 to RMB135,800 ($14,700 – $18,900). The Leapmotor B01 is the first battery-powered electric sedan under the company’s B platform, built upon the LEAP 3.5 electronic and electrical architecture. It is scheduled for launch and delivery within July.
The Leapmotor B01‘s design was collaboratively crafted by a Sino-European review team, embodying a “Natural Technology Aesthetics” language. Drawing inspiration from natural phenomena such as cosmic gravitational fields and polar perpetual daylight, it establishes a three-tiered aesthetic framework: “stance from ten meters, surfaces from five meters, details from one meter.” Its officially named “Tiansuo Fluid” body achieves an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.197.

In terms of details, the new vehicle is equipped with a roof-mounted lidar, “Flying Wing Starlight” lamp clusters, “Starlight Sport” wheels, and a large area of piano black trim as standard across all models. The vehicle dimensions are 4770/1880/1490mm (length/width/height) with a wheelbase of 2735mm. Positioned as a compact car, it boasts an impressive 86% space utilization rate.

The interior features geometric cut-outs and suspended designs to create a dynamic atmosphere, with two interior themes (“Phantom Moon Violet” and “Cloud Gray”). It includes a bridge-style central armrest (with class-leading leather coverage), a 14.6-inch 2.5K high-definition central control screen, and an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument cluster forming a technological dual-screen setup, complemented by an ultra-large panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade. Additionally, the passenger side features six “magic expansion docks” and rectangular recessed structures supporting various accessories like folding tables and phone holders. The trunk offers a conventional 460L space plus a 70L recessed storage area, capable of accommodating five 20-inch suitcases, while the 8.5L glove box can hold a 14-inch laptop.
For intelligent features, the new car is equipped with the world’s first 5nm automotive-grade Qualcomm 8295 chip, paired with the Leapmotor OS 4.0 Plus system, enabling 3D dynamic desktop and “one-shot-to-the-end” interactive animations. The AI voice large model integrates DeepSeek+Tongyi Qianwen dual engines, supporting multi-modal recognition and contextual command prediction. In terms of intelligent driving, the new car features lidar and a Qualcomm 8650 chip, boasting 200TOPS of computing power, alongside 27 high-precision sensing hardware units, realizing 26 assisted driving functions, including high-speed navigation (NAP), commuting navigation (CNAP), and parking lot memory parking. Its end-to-end large model integrates perception, prediction, and planning modules, and will be upgradable in the future to “parking space to parking space” full-scenario assisted driving.

Regarding power, all models are equipped with a rear-mounted motor, offering two power outputs: 132 kW and 160 kW. They are also paired with 56.2 kWh and 67.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery packs, providing cruising ranges of 550 kilometers and 650 kilometers, respectively. In fast charging mode, the vehicle can go from 30% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes.
Compared to competitors like the XPeng MONA M03 and BYD Qin PLUS EV, the Leapmotor B01 boasts significant advantages in intelligent driving hardware, cruising range, and interior space utilization. The 150,000-yuan new energy sedan market has an annual sales volume exceeding 2 million units, but has long suffered from “supply mismatch,” where the utilitarianism demanded by ride-hailing services diverges from the “quality + intelligence” needs of younger users. The Leapmotor B01, however, brings a new and different experience. Its launch is expected to drive the 150,000-yuan pure electric sedan market from “price-performance competition” to “value competition,” with its “technological egalitarianism” concept likely to attract more young consumer groups.
Editor’s Comment: The Leapmotor B01, with its philosophy of “high-end configurations for young people,” offers a quality upgrade solution that is not just a mode of transport but a mobile living space. In an era of increasing homogenization in new energy vehicles, its product strength may redefine the value standards of 150,000-yuan pure electric sedans, and like the XPeng MONA M03, it has the potential to become a disruptive “game-changer” in the new energy market.
